Stephanie & Elroy
Stephanie’s family and one particular family friend who was over-joyed and bursting with excitement really set an amazing tone for this beautiful wedding day. Stephanie’s makeup looked naturally amazing! Nicole her make-up artist did a brilliant job, and even though I try best not to talk about make-up… I simply have to give credit, especially when it’s exceptionally done in a way that best represents the bride's true natural beauty.
As Stephanie got into her classic chariot, everybody had to turn their heads as her stunning white dress sparkled in the afternoon sun with her mom close by her side in a red dress inspired by the movie “Pretty Women”. (No jokes, her mom told me at the Reception, lol!) This was a classic start to what turned into an amazing Wedding Day adventure. Stephanie entered the Ceremony as the sun burst through the picturesque trees at Winery Road Forest. Elroy saw his Bride for the first time and right there it all made sense. Because we all witnessed that Love in the form of a Wedding is a beautiful experience to share in. And if your fortunate to be invited to any Wedding, you must mean a lot to the couple.
When the Pastor said…“You may now kiss the bride”… Elroy took full advantage of the kiss and the guests loved it!! A kiss soooo long that the Pastor covered his eyes, lol! Now, this was a very important kiss and it's perfectly legal too!
At the reception, the couple enjoyed their first dance under the moonlight while being circled by family, and words of encouragement were shared throughout the Reception. An amazing day like this one has to be remembered for the evoked emotions. The location is nothing but a meeting point for those to celebrate with the couple, but what the couple feels for each other, means everything and the way they looked at each other was another form of proof that they feel deeply for each other.
I had a blast! And the Guest's definitely did too, it was an experience one simply could not miss.
Congratulation Mr. & Mrs. October!
Kimberly & Clint
Sometimes, love can connect two hearts through family friendships years before they meet. This was such an instance… Kimberley's father knew Clint's father for a very long time, but little did he know that Clint would one day marry his daughter. Clint, being the shy one and Kimberley being vibrant meant that their Wedding Day was a perfect mix of enthusiasm and composure wrapped into a beautiful day that was bright and sunny, but not hot. This was a rare weather combination for a December Wedding but was gladly welcomed, so thank you mother nature!
The Wedding Ceremony was quick & humorous, which I love by the way because long wedding ceremonies is never a good idea, lol! We had a chance to see some waves hit the sore and ended up with sand between our toes as a plus.
At the reception, Kimberley's work colleague said the most encouraging words to wish this lovely couple on their way and Kimberley explained how she met her now Husband in detail as we men usually forget just about anything not related to sports, cars or video games, lol!. With excited close friends and family in attendance, Kimberley and Clint's Wedding Day was a reminder of just how powerful love can be if we invest in each other. I totally enjoyed the love these two hearts shared for each other and their wedding day was another memorable journey.
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Ferguson!
Farren & Adriaan
Adrian seemed nervous at the Engagement soot but was visibly excited when I pulled up for the prep shots and he was cool and calm while his brother was in full support at home. At Farren's place, the family was excited too, and some took selfies. I love a good selfie too because that too is a memory snapped in time. And on to the topic of time, this was by far the most punctual wedding I’ve ever shot, period! Farren explained that punctuality for Wedding Ceremonies is the norm within their family and I was amazed because Ceremonies starting on time is somewhat rare and this was a refreshing experience.
With the Choir singing beautifully at the Church we witnessed Farren & Adrian's hearts collide in marriage and suddenly the heat didn’t matter that much anymore. Besides, the bar ladies kept us all hydrated at the Reception, lol! This Wedding Day heat had melting potential as we walked up to a 50meter footpath to a private forest and luckily the beautiful trees at Suikerbossie in Houtbay allowed us enough shade to cool off, lol!
The heat could not melt the love and good vibes in the air as the positive spirits from family and friends created an amazing wedding day.
And as their day of celebrating love progressed, their guest's made their way to the dance floor, one could feel the relief in the air as all the planning bare fruit and this meant that Farren and Adrian could officially ride into the sunset and spend their tomorrows, together, as husband and wife.
Congratulations Farren & Adrian!
Gi-Shè & Shandrè
This was another hot sunny day with enough wind to cool us down as this wedding day got off to an exciting start.
When it comes to pronouncing anything, I have my own twist and turns, but with pronouncing Gi-Shè's (which is a unique name.) I got it wrong 9 out of 10 times, even after repeating it several times even during their engagement shoot, I just couldn’t nail it, at some point they said, "Don't worry about it" lol!
The dance floor was never empty, everybody took full advantage of the DJ's mastery in the DJ corner as he took us through memory lane and brought us up to date with the latest GQOM hits, it was a memorable evening of dance and song! And as Gi-Shè's Dad handed her over after one last dance at the Reception, it was a moment when reality sunk in while Shandrè held her tight as they enjoyed their first dance in a venue filled with supportive family and friends.
Now, I've seen DJ's pull up to Weddings with Tripple Deck setups and Pro’s but still forget the basics, DJ Elbee knew how to rock the party and did it with CD's only and had the crowd on their feet. One has to respect the veterans in the DJ'ing scene and we can all agree, the reception party was super!! Sometimes old school experience is king and I could say the same for the Host of Rondekuil Estates with a polite, patient and service-driven Love for people she made us all feel at home.
With a bridal party of thirteen and, that’s the girls only, It was a mad dash to the starting line. I must say, I am very proud of the girls for winning the shoot-out, the team of 7 guys had the ideas, just not the creativity, LOL!!
With a beautiful Wedding Dress made by Gi-Shè's mother, she looked amazing and having traveled all the way from Bloemfontein to share in their celebration of Love.
Congratulations Gi-Shè & Shandrè!
Mellisa & Cameron
This was a cool summers day for any wedding and besides this beautiful couple, I saw 14 other couples getting married on the same day, no jokes! Love is definitely in the air. We all know December has the most weddings than any other month and no two weddings are the same, each day is unique to each couple. It is about two hearts colliding on a journey into the unknown and knowing that someone loves you back is what makes the journey a worthwhile life experience.
At the Ceremony the Dominee said… “Ek will almal herhinder dat liefde nie n Hollywood rolprent is nie.” Now, I use the word Hollywood allot, couples that know me can concur, lol! He also talked about how love only lasts for that one hour and thirty minutes of a movie. He encouraged us all to look within ourselves and involve our God in our marriages to become better at sharing our Love. Sharing in love was exactly what these two love birds did, from the moment Cameron saw his bride at the ceremony, we knew that Cameron and Mellisa were going to find joy in this important gateway into marriage. With a bit of nerves during the Ceremony meant that one of the rings were placed on the wrong hand and finger (I will not mention who, lol!) but that's how weddings go, its a deep collection of nerves. lol!
At the reception, there was enough sparkling to cool us all down as the summer's heat held zero punches and they tried to trick the Groom into removing the Garter from a guys leg, but he was too smart. With some solid advice from family and friends, the couples first dance included all the guests joining halfway into the song and we all had a fun and exciting day! The way Cameron and Mellissa looked at each other is proof that Love is a language that nobody understands, and the eyes don’t lie, they are both extremely, in Love.
Congratulations Mellisa & Cameron!
Roslyn & Renaldo
While shooting Renaldo and Roslyn’s Engagement a while back, I noticed how Renaldo (without saying a word) wanted to ensure that his fiancé did not slip or slide down the (river like) stream after we received heavy rains in Cape Town. He took such great care by holding on to her hands firmly to ensure she is safe, and Love is sometimes the little things that need not be spoken.
A Wedding Day can be a rush, especially just before a bride walks down the aisle but the relief when she gets handed over to her fiancé is sometimes best described in images. The relief of knowing that you made it this far with your partner must be rewarding and hearing both Renaldo and Roslyn’s reception Speech it was evident that they have come a long way and that it was all worth it.
The Bride confirmed the growth of grey hair while navigating her bridesmaids on this journey, but the bridesmaids sure had a good time. The groomsmen were no exception, so much so that they won the shoot-out, which was well deserved! LOL!
Roslyn’s father took to the dance floor to celebrate his Birthday and it was indeed a double celebratory moment to remember for many years with a unique solo performance! GQOM music has taken over at Cape Town weddings and the happy guests did the genre justice!
No matter how “old school” I might be, I'm certainly not a believer that opposites attract. That is a term that is being thrown around vaguely, I believe that Love, attracts Love. This best describes this beautiful wedding day and we all can agree, it was another fun exciting portrayal of Love.
Congratulations Renaldo & Roslyn!
Leroy & Chanelle
If there's one day that gets people excited, then its a Wedding Day, and the bigger the circle the bigger the wedding. Especially if its a family that loves to share in wedding day action, and the Brides parents place was fully packed with excited family and friends. The neighbors waited outside her parents home in the scorching heat to cheer as Chanelle stepped onto the red carpet straight into the limousine with her father on her side. That's a beautiful moment to witness.
Knowing that I have the opportunity to capture a couples most important day by telling their story of Love in the form of images is always a huge honor. I have yet to meet a couple that had a smooth sail while planning a wedding but that is what makes the Big Day all worth it. Leroy and the boys had some funny “before you get married” jokes before he left home and Leroy was excited to see his beautiful bride walk down the aisle. Chanelle’s mom mentioned at the Reception that Leroy “slaan haar asem koud” (that's an old-school Afrikaans saying that means…she is amazed by him) LOL! And also that she finds comfort in knowing that Leroy will take good care of her only daughter. I guess that is what every mother-in-law wants for their daughter, and that's a good thing.
You could feel the love all around as the “Gemeente” showed up ready to share in the festivities. I really enjoyed the time documenting this sunny wedding day between two kind souls that found love in each other's arms.
We can meet the person we marry anywhere, and at anytime but marriage remains the final starting point of a life long commitment and having as much fun as this couple did, was a bonus!
Taryn & Justin
Arriving at Taryn’s place, I was greeted by 10 lovely ladies in pink and white gowns and they were all very excited to celebrate Taryn & Justin’s Wedding Day. Now, they might not all have been part of the official bridal party but they were such good sports!
We had a good laugh while Taryn was getting ready and they couldn’t wait for this beautiful Wedding Day to get started, it was definitely set to be another exciting day.
Wedding’s happen when two souls connect, there no denying that love takes a permanent seat long before a bride walks down the aisle… At the Ceremony Taryn’s big smile could be seen through her vail while walking towards Justin and that was something amazing!
Before the reception started, the guests had cocktails at the Venue, but one cocktail stood out. It was a certain strawberry cocktail (mini fishbowl! lol!) that inspired those with minimal rhythm to do some tricky dance moves early into the evening. The lucky bachelor that won the Garter by outperforming his competition was chosen specifically by the bride because he totally earned it, all while wearing Justin's face. I can’t explain it, you had to be there! Probably one of the most hilarious Garter competitions I will ever witness! LOL!!!
There was no shortage of entertainment with a special song performed by Justin and SA Got Talent’s winner James Bhemgee. The guests totally loved it and so too did Taryn. It was one of those timeless moments…. As the second Chorus was sung by James in Spanish, Justin and Taryn had their first dance as Husband and Wife. These two danced into the night and also performed a separate special dance, and what we witnessed was two souls, completely connected.
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Smith!!
Karen & Joe
Most Grooms only ever feel Wedding nerves on the day of the wedding, but for a Bride, it could mean days, weeks, even months of nerves. Now, I have yet to see a Groom with zero nerves, but the moment his fiancé walks down the aisle, no groom can fight the nerves. Joe seemed very relax at home, but when Karen walked down the aisle in her beautiful white wedding dress there was absolutely no denying his nerves, lol!
Usually, I try (at best!) to capture as much reactions as possible but on sunny days like this one I've found that guests tend to hide behind their sunglasses and sometimes I wish Weddings had a no sunglasses policy (in my dreams!) just so I could capture the tears and snot of joy, lol!
With the rain being unpredictable in Cape Town, this lovely couple got blessed with sunny weather and dance loving guests too! The dance floor was packed and I saw some dance moves that I’ve never seen before from the “older” generation, they sure showed the younger generation how to “get down“, lol! Karen's Dad made the funniest Wedding Speech I’ve heard in a long time and the DJ played all the hits, you could not help but to move to the music!
Every journey I take as a wedding photographer brings me closer to better understanding people, and for a moment at Karen & Joe’s Ceremony, I realized that we are nothing without the love of family as their family scrambled to congratulate this lucky couple. This wonderful wedding day was yet another memorable experience and they both looked amazing and were both equally excited to spend their forever's, together.
Congratulations Karen & Joe!
Deborah & Deslin
The first thing I ask a couple when we Meet & Greet is “How did you two meet?“ It’s interesting how couples meet and sometimes even more interesting on how they got Engaged. Deborah mentioned at the Wedding Reception that when they met, the first thing she asked Deslin was “Broer, hoekom is jou hande so sag”, lol! Fast forward to their Wedding Day and they were both extremely Happy to begin this new chapter together.
The Pastor dropped some valuable knowledge “The Union of Marriage is made up by two Good Forgivers” that was one accurate statement. This is by far the best advice (in my own opinion!) I’ve ever heard given to a Bride & Groom, and trust me, I’ve heard them all, lol! The Made Of Honor journeyed all the way from Johannesburg and the little kids had so much fun, to see them running around freely during the Wedding Reception is a reminder that we were all little and free at heart.
With the fireplace keeping the guests warm and a group of Pastors creating a prayer circle around the couple, everyone joined to bless Deborah and Deslin’s new found unity. Deborah sang a beautiful song for Deslin and I had no idea that she was that talented. We enjoyed a “vuur warm” Pinkster Treffer called “Jubbel” to loosen up the legs after the Main meal and the “Gemeente” had a “Lekker Tyd”!!
On this Sunny Wedding Day, this beautiful couple’s Love for each other reminds us that there is nothing greater than two people committing to a Lifetime, Together.
Congratulations Mr. Mrs. Jehoma!
Chandre & Carlo
Let me start off by confirming that this Beautiful wedding was the highest wedding (in terms of altitude!) I’ve ever shot! Looking all around us, it was impossible to ignore the striking views from waaayyyyy on top of the Mountain. Guest’s arriving sure had a blast and a group of ladies all whore Red dresses of almost similar styles. I'm not sure if they planned it, but they were ready to celebrate! With tears from the guest’s as Chandre (while trying to contain her nerves) made her way down the aisle, Carlo wasn’t sweating it at all! He was just too excited to marry his Fiancé as her white dress trailed behind her, this was one of many beautiful moments on this cool and cloudy Wedding Day.
At the reception, Chandre's Flower Bouquet got caught in the Chandelier, but the ladies were not planning on giving up the fight by securing the ultimate wedding day prize. Now, to contain my laughter during this time and still getting the shot was difficult because seeing some (compact) ladies trying to jump and reach the bouquet was just hilarious! But someone had to take the prize, it was the funniest thing I've seen at a Wedding Reception in a very long time, lol!!!!
I’m reminded of how Chandre explained over coffee how she used to admire Carlo from afar and used to secretly have a crush on him. That's something so pure, something so real and after their Wedding Day it definitely had to be something rewarding for both of them and I really admired her honesty. To be able to spend the rest of your Tomorrows with your teenage crush while close family and friends share in your celebrations, had to be one priceless experience because we all had an amazing time!
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Owies!
Marisha & Lance
Pulling up to the picturesque Bakenhof Wine Estate in Wellington, there was absolutely no shortage of Celebratory Wedding Day Motivational Drinks! With friendly waiters, beautiful views & jolly Guest’s, perfect weather was the cherry-on-top for Lance and Marisha’s memorable Wedding Day. Upon arrival, I could quickly sense both nerves and excitement moving from one room to another, which is perfectly normal, but one thing was very clear, everybody showed up to have a good time!
With some really funny moments between the Bridal Parties, especially when the Groomsmen failed to win a quick shoot-out, some things are just better left to the Bridesmaids to conquer! (Sorry guys, lol!)
With a sad, but happy goodbye from the Brides mother, it was hard to hold back the tears before her daughter walked down the aisle. We all knew about their very close mother-daughter relationship, but I have never seen a Mother so proud of both her loving Daughter and her kind and sincere Husband. If Lance had an approval rating scale of 1-10, he definitely scored a clear 100, and that's a beautiful thing.
Wedding Days might feel like a sudden goodbye, especially for the parents, but that is exactly what makes Wedding’s so amazing! The long rollercoaster of emotions wrapped into One fun-filled day where family and friends are reminded to Celebrate Love, Life and everything in between.
You could say, every heart has a rhythm, so too does every Wedding Day. At the Reception, Lance and Marisha did a fun and exciting Couples Dance. Now, I knew Marisha had some dance moves, but Lance held his own, he made sure that he steered his Wife. Like a scene out of the movie "Dirty Dancing”, but waaaay better because we all witnessed Two Hearts in perfect harmony! It sure was a big surprise and they both totally nailed every twist and turn and this landed the Newly Weds a Standing Ovation!
We all enjoyed a very uncommon dessert, I call it the “Lindt Chocolate Mini Doughnut Explosion!”, lol! You just had to be there to experience!
Congratulations Mr & Mrs. Gibbons!
Zaskia & Jermaine
I try and remind each and every couple that their Wedding Day should have a foundation of their Love for each other, everything else is a bonus. Zaskia and Jermaine’s Wedding Day was one big Bonus! Great venue, friendly waiters, happy and cheerful family, and friends, and another funny bridal party! Now, I’m no Michael Jackson, but a Live Band just makes me want to do the Moonwalker. So having to concentrate while the Band was playing Bruno Mars, John Legend and all the other Wedding Day Hits, it really wasn’t easy stand still. Honestly I really just wanted to show off my dance moves, lol!
The Toast Master nailed the toast and we will never ever look at a Jocky riding a horse the same way again, LOL!
Once in a while, a couple will surprise me with a hidden talent at the reception and Zaskia did a Grammy Award-winning medley of love songs for her Husband and it turned into a beautiful intimate concert. It’s amazing having to experience an entire Reception cheering the Bride as she hits every note perfectly while her Husband is memorized by her act of Love, it’s just priceless! And although all brides might not have the Whitney Houston or Mariah Carrey voice, every wedding has that something special. We should never shy away from Love, that's what all Weddings like Zaskia & Jermaine’s and those I’ve shot in the past should be focused on because Love makes for a great Wedding Day. I’ve spent a short time with Zaskia & Jermaine and they have beautiful hearts, this makes any photographers job so much easier and it was yet another fun-filled day.
Congratulations Zaskia & Jermaine!
Robyn & Jody
With nothing but sunshine and excited guests, this was another Beautiful Wedding Day!
This Bride & Groom are two kind souls, but I did not know they were dancers too! With group dance at the Reception from both Robyn & Jody, including their siblings plus the MC, they sure entertained! At one point, we all witnessed (for the first time ever at a Wedding!) Twerking to a love song by the MC, this had mixed reactions but this MC did what he needed to do, to keep guest's happy & laughing their eyes out! LOL! The ladies made sure that they fully supported the MC's very "exclusive" performance, LOL! He and his wife did a great job, especially with the chips aka tips! lol!!!
With proud parents and the releasing of Doves, there was no shortage of fun, laughter, and emotions. No matter how long a couple plans their special day, almost every Wedding Day will go by very quickly, but it's Love & Support from this couples family and friends that really helped make this day another memorable Wedding Day Celebration.
Another beautiful couple, another set of memories secured and it was so much fun!
Congratulations Robyn & Jody!
Taryn & Colin
A Wedding Day can be a rush of emotions and excitement for any couple, but Taryn & Colin kept their cool and braved through the African heat effortlessly. With a Best Man that calls you up directly for info and communicates effortlessly, Colin’s Best Man traveled from Johannesburg and made sure everyone was politely organized for what was a sunny day filled with laughs and my most favorite of all, Smiles! The ceremony was short and sweet and the Church Group photo, while everyone was busy chewing, was funny, lol! Taryn’s friend journey all the way from Mpumalanga and Colin’s team of brothers showed up in full support while his Dad was full of humor and both families were proud and very supportive.
Two kind souls forming a connection via their hearts is amazing, and having family and friends to witness a day like this one was the cherry on top!
Congratulations Taryn & Colin!
Chevonne & Emile
Being young at heart and in love is a different kind of feeling, but marrying your soulmate is one epic bonus. This was a long journey from relationship to marriage between Chevonne and Emile and when they speak about each other,
one can sense their intimate passion.
It’s a real comforting feeling being around Family and Friends on one’s wedding day and the laughter during the family group photo set the tone for this cool summers day Wedding Day.
With their reception at the exclusive One&Only hotel in Cape Town, the guests sure enjoyed the celebrations and the mouth-watering menu, not to mention the beautiful interior. Chevonne’s Wedding dress was designed by her mother and we all can agree the dress looks amazing! Emile’s brother who was also his Best Man was super supportive and the rest of the bridal party was both nervous and funny, lol!
The weather felt unpredictable but everything turned out perfect, another set of memories secured for two hearts that truly love and care for each other.
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Wehr!!
Carmen & Staphano
Weddings is a family affair that usually has everybody scrambling to get final touch-ups on their hair, make-up and nails, not to mention the last minute wardrobe dash to get ready for the Ceremony. Its what I call pure excitement! With an overflowing amount of excitement and clear nervousness from both Carmen and Stephano, I knew these two could not wait for this amazing summers day wedding.
With a live performance (by a very quiet gentleman, but that brother could sing!) at the Ceremony, it sure set the tone for this day of celebration! We had over enough time for the Prime Shoot which was a pleasantly refreshing opportunity for me to do what I do best, and that's securing memories.
Stephano looked dashing in his 'killer" suit, so much so that he had no immediate plans on removing his jacket to remain clean and fresh for his wife. That was a sweet thing to do (considering the heat!), and Carmen could not take her eyes of her husband!
At the reception, Carmen sang a song for Stephano and I did not know she had great singing abilities, and she totally nailed it! Everybody had a good time and the guest’s had no problem smiling away while I secured the first wedding for 2018, really exciting times!
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Dogh!
